スウェーデンでは、vancomycin resistant enterococci VRE バンコマイシン耐性腸球菌の広範囲な伝播は 2007年秋、Stockholm ストックホルム県内の多くの病院で始まり、2008年地理的に離れた 2県 Vastmanland ヴェストマンランド県, Halland ハッランド県の各種病院や高齢者ホームに波及。大多数(97.1%)は同国内で感染し、大半は Enterococcus faecium vanB (85.9%)。
During the period from 1 Jul 2007 to 28 Feb 2009, a total of 760 VRE cases were reported nationally via SmiNet2 from 13 of 21 Swedish counties, including 493 from Stockholm, 128 from Vastmanland, and 100 from Halland. The majority of the persons (n=738, 97.1 percent) had acquired VRE in Sweden. These 738 domestic cases were notified from 10 counties, and E. faecium vanB was the most commonly reported strain (n=634, 85.9 percent).
