英国イングランド Lincolnshire リンカンシャー州 River Witham ウィザム川で 2010年9月19日開催された[年1回] Boston Rowing Marathon ボストンローイングマラソン (Lincoln リンカン市から Boston [英国ボストン]の 31マイルを漕ぐ) に参加した男性アスリート (オリンピック漕艇チャンピオン 現 51歳)は、レースの数日後に発症し、死亡する 1週間前にロンドンの自宅近くの病院に入院した (2010年10月24日 死亡)。[Mod. アルジェリア民主人民共和国 北東部 Setif セティフ県の病院で 52歳女性が [2010年10月13日]死亡した。
(彼女の子ども 8人のうち) 22歳の息子、7歳児も死亡 (計 3人)。
El Eulma 市 [首都 アルジェの東側 約 340Km, 人口 約 10万人/1998年 Wikipedia] は混乱、動揺を来たしている。同月8日から他に市民 26人緊急入院 {病院名 CHU (Centre hospitalier universitaire) Saadna Abdenour }。全入院患者はレプトスピラ症と診断された。腸チフスでない。
イスラム教寺院 ( mosque モスク) Okba Ibn Nafaa にある井戸 1か所が同細菌で汚染し、間接的に伝染が起こった。

This infectious disease has been transmitted by sewage from a well located at the Okba Ibn Nafaa mosque, located in the city Bourefref, south of the city of El-Eulma.

Residents of the city told us that the infiltration of rain water and the presence of rats in the wells would be at the origin of this epidemic. This situation has put the health and civil authorities on alert. Officials then decided to close the well and reviewed the distribution system for drinking water.

中央アメリカ Nicaragua ニカラグア共和国西部 Leon レオン県(department) で発生している、leptospirosis [真正細菌 ... スピロヘータ目レプトスピラ科細菌による] レプトスピラ感染症は制御されている (同国保健省)。現在までに 8自治体で 感染者 35人が公式確認されている (大多数は 農村部)。

The official bulleting quoted by the [La Primerisima] radio station describes this epidemiological situation as an outbreak, which tends to be favored by climatic conditions characterized by the heavy and continuous rains with frequent flooding affecting the country since last May [2010].

[過去の事例] レオン県 Achuapa 自治体で 9人死亡 (1995年)。同県の県都 Leon市でティーンエイジャー 1人死亡し、1家族 8人感染 (1996年)。
これまでのうち最も深刻であった発生は 2007年10月 Chinandega チナンデガ県, レオン県 両県の住民 331人が感染し、9人が死亡した事例である。

ナゴルノ・カラバフ共和国 Nagorno-Karabakh Republic [(NKR) or Artsakh Republic アゼルバイジャンから独立 (Wikipedia)] Kashatagh [Qashatagh 州?] 内でレプトスピラ症発生 (保健省発表)。患者 [2010年6月8日 54人]の病状は良好で、大多数は退院した (残りの14人は数日中に退院予定)。

2009年12月からアルゼンチン共和国[の東部] Entre Rios エントレ・リオス州 では熱性疾患 (レプトスピラ症, ハンタウイルス感染症 hantavirus infection, デング熱 dengue fever)のサーベイランス計画を実施している。州都 Parana パラナ に近いコミュニティ Padre Kolbe communityで会合を行う予定であったが、1週間前に 1人の死亡例があったので、住民は強い関心がある。同州のレプトスピラ症患者は 48人となった(疑い患者 200人の1/4)。州内の河川の両岸からの氾濫と同時に起こった。
同コミュニティ内の Vicente Quesada 通りに住み、ごみ収集業を行っていた若年男性が亡くなった[23 Mar 2010]。Parana川の東岸で、以前に同疾患が発生したSanta Fe サンタフェ州 サンタフェ市は対岸である。

アルゼンチン 北東部 Santa Fe サンタフェ州の保健局は[2010年1月3日から]現時点までに、[スピロヘータ感染症 leptospirosis] レプトスピラ症の確定患者 32人と発表した。確定患者の死亡例 6人。大雨が降り、Parana River パラナ川が最高水位となり洪水となった2010年1月中旬に感染患者が発生した。
