A record spike in the number of people with legionnaires’ disease has prompted the Canterbury District Health Board to issue a warning about the dangers associated with potting mix ([そのまま使えるように配合された] ポッティングミックス) and [potting] compost ([ブログ投稿者注: 殺菌消毒されていない] 培養土、苗床用の土).

ニュージーランド 南島 Canterbury カンタベリー地方では、2010年の legionnaires’ disease ( legionellosis レジオネラ感染症 レジオネラ症) 患者 62人を記録し、このうち 22人は (2010年)12月、1か月間だけの記録(過去最多)であった。これら症例の 2/3は gardening soil 園芸用の土に関係する [グラム陰性桿菌] レジオネラ属菌の 1種 [Mod. ML氏解説: Legionella longbeachae レジオネラ ロングビーチエ] によるものであった (Medical officer of health 保健局医務官 Dr Alistair Humphrey 氏発言)。
3人は ICU室で治療し、1人は死亡した。
2010年11月の症例 8人。同地方では 2010年、レジオネラ症で 4人死亡し、患者 1人は かなり悪い状態が続いている(ICU 利用中)。

スペイン [マドリード州]首都 マドリード (近郊を含む都市圏人口 約650万人)
legionellosis レジオネラ感染症により、1人死亡 (2010年11月1日)し、発生からの死者数 5人、感染者数 計 46人となった (Madrid Health Council マドリード保健審議会発表)。
5人目の死亡患者は 87歳男性。2010年10月26日発症し、同年11月1日救急診療部 ( Fundacion Jimenez Diaz )に入院したが、同日死亡。
11月8日、疫学的に確認された。
高濃度のレジオネラ属菌汚染により 他 8台[*]の冷却塔 (cooling tower クーリングタワー)を封鎖・密封し、合計 12台(密封)となった。
[*] 場所: Gran Via 29, Preciados 18, Jordan 11, Paseo de los Melancolicos 1, Arenal 4, Arenal 7; Puerta del Sol 11, and Peciados 32.

Of the 46 cases of legionellosis in the outbreak, 30 have been discharged, 7 remain hospitalized (including 4 in the medical ward and 3 in the ICU), and 4 have not required hospitalization. This is in addition to the 5 deaths recorded.

To date, 736 inspections have been carried out. Of the culture results available, 122 have tested negative and 31 positive for [グラム陰性桿菌レジオネラ属] Legionella pneumophila [レジオネラ ニューモフィラ 血清型群] serogroup 1 .

イギリス構成国 ウェールズ南部 South Wales サウスウェールズ内の主要ルート A465 道の“Heads of the Valleys Road” 地域 [の 12 Km 区間の両側]で発生した legionnaires’ disease レジオネラ症の終息宣言。
22人が感染し、Caerphilly 市[カウンティ バラ, county borough]内 Rhymney の 85歳男性、49歳女性 計 2人が感染症発生に関連し死亡した。
最後の患者の発症日は 10 Sep 2010 であった。

The outbreak area involved a corridor [交通ルート] 12 km (7.5 miles) either side [両側] of the Heads of the Valleys Road (A465) between Abergavenny and Llandarcy.

Of the 22, Legionella pneumophila, the cause of Legionnaires' disease, was grown from clinical specimens in only 7 patients. ... however, in this outbreak each clinical isolate was genetically distinct, which suggests that there was no common source at least for these 7 patients.

[Mod.ML 氏解説:
レジオネラ属菌で汚染したエアロゾルが自動車のフロントガラス洗浄システム(英国での研究)、車内のエアコン(トルコ、日本の研究)で発生すると、研究は仮定している。英国の調査で プロドライバーの患者は 英国イングランドおよびウェールズのレジオネラ属菌による市中感染散発例の中で、予測よりも5倍多い。また、市中感染散発例の 約20%は、ワイパー液(含有しているアルコールがレジオネラ属菌の増殖を抑制する抗菌作用があると仮定)の代わりに水道水を使うことによると推定。
日本の研究者の調査では、特に温暖な天気のとき、アスファルト道路の上の雨による水たまりから、レジオネラ属菌が検出された。汚染したエアロゾルが自動車運転中に車内に入ると仮定している。

イギリス構成国 ウェールズ南部 South Wales サウスウェールズでレジオネラ症発生し、患者数 19人となる。全患者は重篤な状態で入院治療を要している。
主要道路 A465 道 “Heads of the Valleys Road” 周囲でクラスター発生。年金生活者 2人 (64歳女性[6 Sep 2010]、74歳男性[8 Sep 2010])が病院で死亡した(括弧内 死亡日)。感染源究明のため調査中。

レジオネラ属菌 Legionella pneumophila [血清型群] serogroup 1 による 重症肺炎 5人。West Australia 西オーストラリア州 3人、 Victoria ビクトリア州 2人。2010年12月、バリ島での休暇から帰国後発症。
2010年8月から インドネシア バリ島 [バドゥン県] Kuta クタ郡との関連のあるオーストラリア人の診断確定患者 計 10人となった。

Earlier on Friday [14 Jan 2011], Victoria’s chief health officer John Carnie said 4 Victorians [ビクトリア州 計 4人], aged from 45 to 82, were among the 10 who had been treated for the illness on their return from Bali. He said 6 cases [西オーストラリア州 計 6人] were detected among West Australians who had been to the Indonesian resort island.

確定患者 10人中 9人は、central area of Kuta クタ郡の同じホテルに滞在した。

The 10 cases have been aged between 41 and 82 years (median 55 years), and nearly all have been severely ill with pneumonia, requiring ICU treatment. Most, but not all, have had identified risk conditions, such as smoking, diabetes, or an immunocompromising illness. All have survived to date, although an 11th possible case died in Bali from an undiagnosed pneumonia.

オーストラリア Western Australia 西オーストラリア州 [州都] Perth パース市の中年の患者 2人は最近、レジオネラ症 (検査診断 Legionella pneumophila [血清型群] serogroup 1 )による重症肺炎と診断された。
2人(無関係)は、インドネシア [バリ州] バリ島で休暇を過ごし(島内滞在日の重なり 20010年7月29日-8月8日)、[バリ島内 バドゥン県] Kuta クタ郡の同一ホテルに滞在した。発症日はオーストラリア帰国後の 2010年8月10日、同月14日であった。同じツアー客からの情報によると、ホテルや空港以外によく行った場所はなかった。2人はホテルのプールで泳ぎ、1人は 1か所の jacuzzi [ジャクージ 泡風呂]を使ったようである。
最近、バリ島から帰国し、症状が一致する患者は レジオネラ症の診断を考えて下さい。

If you do detect cases I would be interested to hear of this, and could provide the name of the implicated hotel. Indonesian health authorities are being advised.

米国ミシガン州 Macomb 郡 Warren 市の TACOM (Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command 米陸軍戦車・車両研究開発機関) Life Cycle Management Command ライフサイクル管理コマンド の市民 1人 および 同郡 Harrison チャーター郡区の Selfridge Air National Guard Base 州空軍基地 隊員 1人 計 2人は [レジオネラ属のグラム陰性細菌による] 急性呼吸器感染症( レジオネラ症)と診断された [26 Jul 2010]。
2010年7月12日-24日の発生で、6人が入院し後に退院した。2つのビルは消毒のため閉鎖。

ニュース記事では特に述べていないが、発病者の中でレジオネラ症と診断されなかった複数の患者は恐らく Pontiac fever ポンティアック熱 (レジオネラ症の非肺炎型, インフルエンザ様症状を呈する軽症タイプ)の可能性がある。]

スペイン カタルーニャ州 Barcelona バルセロナ県 バリェス・オリエンタル[コマルカ("郡")] Vallgorguina 町 [Wikipedia 人口 約2400人] の住民 43人が Pontiac fever ポンティアック熱 [* レジオネラ症の非肺炎型](インフルエンザ様症状を呈する軽症タイプ)を発症した。町長より発生の発表。
町の中央にある sprinkler irrigation (systems) スプリンクラー灌漑(かんがい)システム が感染源として疑われているため、数日間、稼動を禁止とする。
第 1例目の患者は 2010年7月上旬、町内の診療所で確認され、現時点で 町の中心地で 43人が感染した。現在、入院が必要な患者はいない。
最も新しい患者 3人は 今日 [16 Jul 2010]診断されたが、2010年7月12日から症状が続いていた。先週のように一日、4-5人の患者を登録しなくなったので、legionellosis レジオネラ症 ポンティアック熱型 の勢いが衰えていると考える。井戸, 水路, 噴水, 灌漑システムの水を分析したが、結果はすべて陰性であった。昨日 [15 Jul 2010] 調査した花の水やりで使っているタンクの水の検査結果を待っている。
町の飲料水設備は検査合格であった。

Pontiac fever is a non-pneumonic form of legionellosis [*] that is less severe than Legionnaires’ disease, and develops from hours to 2 days after initial infection with fever, malaise and muscle aches. Symptoms resolve in 2 to 5 days without antibiotic treatment. Attack rates are high; up to 95 percent of exposed persons become ill. Unlike, legionnaires’ diseases, there appear to be no predisposing host conditions for Pontiac fever. Pontiac fever takes its name from an outbreak in 1968 in Pontiac, Michigan. …

スペイン東部 Valencian Community バレンシア州アリカンテ県 Alcoy アルコイ市
car washing facilities 自動車洗車場 2施設は、2010年6月に報告された legionellosis レジオネラ感染症発生 (16人感染)の原因であると認定した (Local Health Council (Conselleria de Sanidad) [地域保健審議会])。
同審議会オフィサー Manuel Cervera 氏による公式発表。

2010年6月-7月のレジオネラ感染症発生は、1999年以来 16番目の発生となり、2010年5月31日から同年7月13日の期間に 16人の患者が報告された。

Health Area 15 で感染した 6月末の 5人、7月の他 2人は isolated cases / isolated occurrences 孤立症例として分類された。
感染患者の住居の調査 46か所では、陽性結果は報告されていない。

スペイン バレンシア州 Alicante アリカンテ県 Alcoy アルコイ市内のセルフサービスの自動車洗車場 2施設。現行感染予防規則に対応したものであったが、それぞれ 2010年6月29日、同年7月3日、sealed off 封鎖された。

3番目の洗車施設は 2010年7月、封鎖され、現在も 3施設は閉店している。

スペイン バレンシア州 Alicante アリカンテ県 Alcoy アルコイ市内の最近(2010年6月)の legionellosis レジオネラ感染症 (9人感染)の発生源は同市 Ensanche 付近にある1台の car-washing machine 洗車機であると特定された ([公衆衛生審議会] Public Health Council)。

集団感染後の検査で発生源が特定された (全患者の感染源の説明に最もふさわしい “most likely”)。
レジオネラ菌が定着していたとされた洗車機は、現行規則に対応したものであったが、2010年7月1日、密封した。
最近の患者 4人中 2人だけ、まだ入院している (Virgen de los Lirios Hospital)。

[米国ウィスコンシン州] Milwaukee ミルウォーキー市 Cudahy町の1病院で レジオネラ症 legionellosis, Legionnaires’ disease が発生した可能性があり、現時点で少なくとも 8人が発病し、このうち 6人は Aurora Saint Luke’s South Shore 病院に接触があった。ミルウォーキー郡では、毎月 1-2人の患者発生がある。州保健局は同施設を調査し、安全を宣言した。

「2009年のクリスマス以降、フランスRiviera (コートダジュール)でレジオネラ症が発生し、Alpes-Maritimes県ニースの病院に7人入院。現時点では、成人のみ。治療後すでに数人は退院し、重篤な状態の患者はいない。Niceの冷却塔の汚染疑い。」
