Prevalence surveys:
2 percent of adult patients with diarrhea (2000 publication)
24 percent of untreated surface water supplies [未処理の地表水による飲料水] in 1996; 40 percent in 1997
52 percent of calves [子牛], 29 percent of young stock [若い家畜] and 5.6 percent of cows [乳牛] in dairy herds [酪農用動物の群れ/酪農場] (2005 to 2007)
One waterborne outbreak was reported during 1986 to 1996.

Notable outbreaks:
2002 – An outbreak (800 to 1000 cases) was reported among visitors to a public swimming pool.
2007 – An outbreak was reported at a daycare center in the Stockholm area.
2007 – An outbreak (25 cases) was reported among Swedish guests at a hotel in Norway.
2008 – An outbreak (21 cases) was reported among guests at a wedding reception in a hotel in Stockholm.

The Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, SMI, has Monday [29 Nov 2010] analyzed drinking water and samples from the water purification unit at Minnesgarde, Ostersund municipality [Jamtland, Sweden]. The analysis found cryptosporidium in both drinking water samples and samples obtained from the purification unit.

The water purification unit at Missesgarde obtains its water from Lake Storsjon and supplies drinking water to the municipalities of Östersund, Brunflo, Lockne, Froson and the area from Genvalla to Orrviken, and the areas of Byskogen and Sanghusvallen in Krokom municipality.
