近年、狂犬病の incidence 発生[患者]は減少しているが、人口 10万人あたりの罹患率 (グラフ上は約 0.25人, 2009年)は 他国(インドネシア、ベトナム、マレーシア、台湾) に比べて高い。

フィリピン保健省 2010年1月1日-同年10月23日 狂犬病ウイルス感染[疑い]患者 264人(うち 206人死亡)。子供がワクチン未接種の動物と遊ぶ夏やクリスマスの休みに増加。

Of these [264], 206 died due to the virus that is transmitted by the infected saliva of animals, especially dogs [特に、犬], through bites [咬む] or licking [なめる] of open wounds.

7107の島からなるフィリピン共和国のカタンドアネス島(州)で 2009年11月下旬、狂犬病の犬に体、左頬の上に乗られ噛まれた 23歳男性は 2010年1月11日死亡。住民によって犬は捕まえられて調理[唾液、生 肉、臓器等に接触]。12人にワクチンを接種した。

[続] 2009年11月最後の週に狂犬病の犬に左頬を噛まれた 23歳男性が死亡(2010年1月11日)したフィリピン カタンドゥアネス Catanduanes島(州)では、2009年12月10日時点で島内の推定 16 275匹の犬のうち 8384 (51.51%)匹のみ狂犬病の予防接種済。
