Haiti ハイチ共和国 Ouest Department 西県レヨガーヌ郡 [郡庁所在地] Leogane レオガン市 [首都 ポルトープランスから西 29km, Wikipedia]で、anthrax 炭疽菌 “フランス語 charbon ” 感染症による死亡患者 (第一例目)が確認された。

Hispaniola イスパニョーラ島の西側では、炭疽は hyperendemic 風土病として多発している -- ドミニカ共和国 Santo Domingo 首都 サント・ドミンゴ市は元来、炭疽菌フリーとなっている。
過去 10年間の報告は少なかった。
1900年代は例年、多くの炭疽菌感染症患者が報告されていた。
