パキスタン[・イスラム共和国]南部 Sindh シンド州 Karachi カラチ市
[同市 Paposh Nagar にある] 市立病院 Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) に dengue fever デング熱の治療のため入院した tannery worker 皮なめし工場で働く[23歳の]若い患者は、Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever クリミア・コンゴ出血熱 (CCHF) ウイルスに対する検査も陽性であった。
複数の市内の病院から 2週間の短い期間に報告された CCHF 2例目であり、第 1例目の男性患者は回復後、個人病院を退院した (医学界からの発表)。
2010年7月および前月[同年8月]、CCHFによる 2人の死亡報告は、警鐘を鳴らし、同市、医療関係者、関連当局は緊急予防対策[に着手する]必要性を強調している。

カラチ市立の病院 Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) 院長 (medical superintendent) Hamid Zaheer 医師による発言 [15 Sep 2010]。
「カラチ市の北西 Orangi 町(Town) Sector 9/E に住む 23歳の患者は、痛み、高熱、呼吸困難のため同病院に受診となった [入院日 2010年9月11日]。2日前に出血したと医師から聞いた。初回検査や対症療法に加えて、その後、いくつかの血清学的検査を実施し、患者は デング熱 [ウイルス]および CCHF [ウイルス]の両方の感染症検査陽性であると、2010年9月14日、連絡が入った。」

… it was known by Tuesday [14 Sep 2010] that the patient had tested positive both for dengue fever [virus] and CCHF [virus] infections.

最初は ICU、現在、隔離病棟で治療中である。医師やパラメディカルは patients in question 問題となる患者の治療に際しても、適切なプロトコル[規約]を厳守するように求められている (院長 Zaheer氏発言)。

2010年3月から CCHF検査陽性者 5人。このうち 2人は生存し、うち 1人は市立病院 Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) で治療中である。

同市東部の Landhi 町 Bismillah Colony に住む 30歳代半ばの男性患者は 2010年7月、近隣の Korangi 町にある病院 Indus Hospital で死亡が確認された。
彼の職業は(最も感染リスクの高い仕事の 1つ) a butcher by profession 食肉処理[業]であった。同年 5月に死亡した他の患者の職種は不明。

Some of the experts after knowing about the CCHF [cases] in July had highlighted the need to undertake a retrospective study of CCHF patients, [to determine] their occupations and their contact with other people during the period of incubation of the virus, and to determine the sensitivity of lab results and [communication of] a timely update by the hospitals on the cases to the health authorities.

病院 ASH の副院長 Javed Akhtar 医師発言。「現在治療中の 23歳の患者 (皮革加工工場 従業員)は 2010年9月11日、入院した。当初、病棟 Medical-III に入院したが、容態悪化し、IUC に転室となった。
カラチ市内の私立大学病院 Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH)の検査室は 2010年9月14日、患者の検査結果「デング熱および CCHF 両ウイルス感染症の検査陽性」を病院に伝え、患者は隔離病棟に転棟となった。
患者の親類は面会禁止。血小板が危険なレベルまで減少したので、血小板を輸血。
現在、病状は安定し、意識はある。AKUH検査室からの公式通知は 2010年9月15日。」

私立大学病院 AKUH の感染対策委員会 Bushra Jamil 委員長発言「CCHF検査で最近、陽性になった検体は 2検体あり、AKUH 病院に入院し回復後 1週間前に退院した 1名分と ASH 病院の 1名分である。」

An expert said that the doctors and paramedics [known] to have come into contact with these patient during treatment, and relatives of the patients, also needed to be kept under observation as a preventive measure.

数年前、 CCHF に感染した 1人の患者を治療した 1人の医師が同じ病気で後に死亡したことは注目される。
