インド北部 Uttar Pradesh ウッタル・プラデーシュ州の東部では、[26 Jul 2010]までに謎[脳炎の病因・病原体情報はない]のウイルスによる死者 94人, 入院 543人 (州保健局公式日報)。
Control Room in Lucknow [この記事も患者数は同じで]によると、acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) 急性脳炎症候群 小児 543人、他に、死者 94人で、10人は検査で日本脳炎ウイルス陽性であった。同州東部 Gorakhpur district ゴーラクプル県 [ネパールとの国境に近い]でも日本脳炎により小児 1人死亡。
ゴーラクプル県内の実際の死者数は 100人を超えているとの別情報 (Local health activist )もある。
“We are sure about one thing, that it is not Japanese encephalitis virus. Only 11.71 per cent of the samples have tested positive for Japanese encephalitis virus, while the rest are still unknown,” claimed director general (medical & health) Dr RR Bharti.

Uttar Pradesh government has declared an epidemic in most of Uttar Pradesh for Japanese Encephalitis (JE)
As of 21 Aug 2005: 167 deaths
500 cases in total
250 hospitalized
Majority affected 1-13 years of age
Specific areas affected-Gorakhpur, Devaria, Basti, Maharajganj and adjoining areas of Bihar
In Kanpur, 15 suspected cases were diagnosed as suffering from JE. 12 cases underwent CSF examination.
Out of the 12 ( admitted at LLRM Government Hospital), 7 cases were confirmed by CSF to be JE. Out of 7 cases, 3 died. All this is as of 22 Aug 2005.
