スペイン カタルーニャ州 Barcelona バルセロナ県 バリェス・オリエンタル[コマルカ("郡")] Vallgorguina 町 [Wikipedia 人口 約2400人] の住民 43人が Pontiac fever ポンティアック熱 [* レジオネラ症の非肺炎型](インフルエンザ様症状を呈する軽症タイプ)を発症した。町長より発生の発表。
町の中央にある sprinkler irrigation (systems) スプリンクラー灌漑(かんがい)システム が感染源として疑われているため、数日間、稼動を禁止とする。
第 1例目の患者は 2010年7月上旬、町内の診療所で確認され、現時点で 町の中心地で 43人が感染した。現在、入院が必要な患者はいない。
最も新しい患者 3人は 今日 [16 Jul 2010]診断されたが、2010年7月12日から症状が続いていた。先週のように一日、4-5人の患者を登録しなくなったので、legionellosis レジオネラ症 ポンティアック熱型 の勢いが衰えていると考える。井戸, 水路, 噴水, 灌漑システムの水を分析したが、結果はすべて陰性であった。昨日 [15 Jul 2010] 調査した花の水やりで使っているタンクの水の検査結果を待っている。
町の飲料水設備は検査合格であった。

Pontiac fever is a non-pneumonic form of legionellosis [*] that is less severe than Legionnaires’ disease, and develops from hours to 2 days after initial infection with fever, malaise and muscle aches. Symptoms resolve in 2 to 5 days without antibiotic treatment. Attack rates are high; up to 95 percent of exposed persons become ill. Unlike, legionnaires’ diseases, there appear to be no predisposing host conditions for Pontiac fever. Pontiac fever takes its name from an outbreak in 1968 in Pontiac, Michigan. …
